Who\'s the Blind Guy

By SleepMonsters Australia

It was a sea of faces as per usual with a lot of familiar folk turning out, the absence of Jody Zerbst certainly wasn’t going to make the race any easy for returning champ Jarad Kohlar who was having his last hit out before the Anancoda Race on the Gold Coast next weekend. Stu Adams returned to see if he could improve on 3rd from last year. Team Millie having returned from Primal Quest were all in attendance but due to wear/tear and repair were there in some shape or form, Matty B in a team, doing the kayak leg (giving his feet a rest), Zoe sidelined (due to hand injury/surgery sustained at Primal) was crewing, Matty A was up for an Elite Male start and Pete had the task of dragging me around on a tow line (more later).

After a fast and furious start from the Elite Male and Females (probably due to the KOM prize) it was time for us to start thinking about getting on our bikes, at this point things went bad, Pete unfortunately had forgotten to change over pedals on his bike to match his shoes, resulting in some confusion as to why his shoes wouldn’t click into the pedals. Well it was too late to get any shoes, so in an effort to make the best of a bad situation Pete donned his runners, much to the amusement of fellow training partners. Soon enough we were off and after the initial rush of blood the realization of the climb sank in, not far into the climb mechanical issues sidelined one of the folk keen to rib Pete about his shoes, but it wasn’t long and the irritating stiff link was silenced.
